And so it begins...

We decided to make this blog to document our process and to be a resource for future student curators. The project began in November 2008, thanks to the coming together of one great idea and two individuals willing to take up the challenge. Special thanks to Claire Giblin, curator of The Phillips Museum of Art, who allowed us to follow her lead and make the project a reality.

So far, we have been meeting weekly since January to organize the call for artists for the show. Our "Call for Artists" is currently hosted on Artshow.com and Art Calendar and will be featured in Sculpture magazine's April issue. Such publications have contributed to an encouraging flood of requests for the prospectus from artists across the country.

For our juror, we have secured Brooklyn artist and former F&M faculty member Linda Cunningham. In March, we applied for two different campus grants and are waiting to hear about the results. Currently, we are planning how to make our publicity materials environmentally friendly and organizing our plan of attack for what we need to finish before the entry deadline of May 1st.

Stay tuned for updates along the way. This is going to be one hell of a ride!
